Shared blocks
A shared block is a section you save once and reuse in many templates, such as a header, a footer or a legal notice. Blocks live in the Block Library.
Save a section as a block
Section titled “Save a section as a block”- In the builder, select a section.
- Choose Save to Block Library from its quick tools or from the inspector.
- Give the block a name.
The section you saved becomes linked to the new block.
Use a block in a template
Section titled “Use a block in a template”Open the Block Library panel in the builder and drag a block into your template. The section it creates is linked to the block. You can search blocks by name and preview one before you drop it in.
Edit a block
Section titled “Edit a block”When you change a linked section, Maiilo asks what you want to do with your changes:
- Edit the block. Enter block edit mode, make your changes, and save them back to the source block. Every template that links the block picks up the change in its draft.
- Detach. Break the link. Your changes apply to this template only, and the section no longer follows the block.
What a block edit changes
Section titled “What a block edit changes”A block edit updates the block and the drafts that use it. It does not change any published version. Each template that uses the block keeps serving the version it was published with, and Maiilo flags it as needing a re-publish.
This way, editing a footer never changes emails in the middle of a send. You decide when each template picks up the change. See Staleness and re-publishing.
Delete a block
Section titled “Delete a block”Deleting a block from the Block Library asks you to confirm and tells you how many templates link it. Those sections are detached the next time each template is opened, and keep their current content as ordinary sections.
Limits
Section titled “Limits”The Free plan includes 5 saved blocks. Pro has no limit. See Plans.
